Getting started
Is MCGateway free?
Yes. MCGateway is free to use.
What devices does MCGateway work on?
MCGateway works with Minecraft Bedrock on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, mobile, Windows PC, and other Bedrock devices. It is especially useful on consoles where custom-server access is more limited.
Do I need to download anything?
No special console download is required. Add an available MCGateway bot through Minecraft's Microsoft friend system, then join it through the Friends tab.
Which bot should I add?
The website always recommends the healthy available bot with the lowest friend count. You can also use any other bot shown as available.
Using MCGateway
Why can I not see MCGateway in my Friends tab yet?
The bot may still be accepting your friend request, Minecraft may need a moment to refresh, or that bot may have become unavailable. Check the Bot Status page and try the current recommended bot if needed.
Can I join any Bedrock server?
The final FAQ will explain the exact server support and any restrictions based on the live MCGateway implementation. This prototype intentionally avoids promising behavior we have not published yet.
Why did a transfer fail?
Temporary server, network, or gateway issues can occasionally interrupt a transfer. The final page can surface live status and troubleshooting steps when this happens.
The service
Do you plan on shutting down MCGateway?
No. MCGateway is being built as a long-term community service, and we currently have no plans to stop it. Important changes would be communicated clearly through the website and Discord.
Where can I see whether MCGateway is working?
The homepage shows the current gateway signal, the time since the last transfer, and live Hub activity. The Bot Status page separately shows which individual bots are available.
Is MCGateway affiliated with Mojang or Microsoft?
No. MCGateway is an independent community project and is not affiliated with Mojang Studios or Microsoft.
